   Mesoscale Discussion 0747
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0505 PM CDT Wed May 27 2020

   Areas affected...parts of central Texas

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 230...231...

   Valid 272205Z - 280000Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 230, 231
   continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for mainly damaging hail and wind continues
across the region, and may spread south of watches 230/231. A new
   watch is being considered.

DISCUSSION...A small MCS is currently moving across the Houston area
with severe wind gusts measured. This system has produced an
extensive outflow boundary which extends northwestward toward a new
cluster of severe storms east of the San Angelo area.

Strong instability remains over the region, with SBCAPE of 2000-3000
J/kg toward the Austin/San Antonio corridor. Cells upstream are
likely to maintain or increase intensity as they travel southeast
   through evening.

Lengthy hodographs will continue to favor cells capable of damaging
hail, with damaging wind threat increasing with any bowing/merging
storms. Current storm motions suggest areas south of WW 230 may need
to be in a severe watch soon.
