   Mesoscale Discussion 0750
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0935 PM CDT Wed May 27 2020

   Areas affected...south-central Texas

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 232...

   Valid 280235Z - 280430Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 232
   continues.

SUMMARY...Large hail and damaging winds remains possible over parts
of south-central Texas. Storms are expected to eventually weaken as
   they approach coastal counties.

DISCUSSION...Very large hail as well as measured severe wind gusts
have been reported with several severe cells across the SAT area.
Other storms extend eastward beyond the outflow boundary from the
southeast TX MCS, and are expected to weaken due to the cooler air.

The ongoing severe storms are close to the instability axis, with
objective analysis indicating very weak instability along the TX
Coast. Indeed, 00Z soundings show MLCAPE near zero at CRP and BRO.
while DRT shows values around 1150 J/kg.

The expectation is for these cells to continue southeast, producing
hail and wind at least for 1-2 more hours. The broken line is
expected to weaken from east to west, and then perhaps only
isolated, southward-moving cells will remain over parts of the CRP
CWA. A small watch is possible for the remaining duration of this
   event south of WW 232.
