Mesoscale Discussion 0755
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0629 PM CDT Thu May 28 2020
Areas affected...Rio Grande Valley to the middle Texas Coast
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 233...
Valid 282329Z - 290130Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 233
continues.
SUMMARY...Severe wind gusts and hail remain possible across WW 233,
with sporadic strong to severe storms possible this evening ahead of
the main cold front. At this time, additional watches are not
anticipated.
DISCUSSION...A cluster of strong to severe storms exists southwest
of the DFX radar, but an outflow boundary is rapidly undercutting
this activity. Other storms around the San Antonio area rapidly
diminished as the outflow pushed south. Additional activity cannot
be ruled out along/ahead of the outflow boundary as the air mass
remains very unstable.
To the east, storms are currently propagating southwestward along
the sea breeze from the upper to the middle TX Coast. This trend may
persist, and storms could be affected by the surging outflow coming
out of the northwest. Given weak shear, the most likely threat
appears to be brief hail cores and strong downbursts.
