   Mesoscale Discussion 0768
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0513 PM CDT Sat May 30 2020

   Areas affected...central/northern Oregon into Washington

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 236...

   Valid 302213Z - 310015Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 236
   continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for damaging hail and wind persists across WW
236, and will spread north across the remainder of Washington this
   evening.

DISCUSSION...Several severe storms, including small bows/periodic
supercells exist over north-central Oregon, producing large hail and
strong wind gusts. This cluster of storms is close to the surface
low, and where GPS PWAT is measured at 1.00 to 1.25". Heating
downstream of these cells as well as a moist/unstable air mass will
sustain these storms, and any additional storms that may form over
   east-central Oregon.

Cool temperatures aloft and long hodographs will continue to favor
cells capable of large, damaging hail, while deep boundary-layer
mixing helps to sustain strong to damaging outflow. A new watch will
likely be needed north of WW 236, near/after 23Z.
