Mesoscale Discussion 0809
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0544 AM CDT Thu Jun 04 2020
Areas affected...Portions of far southern MO into northern AR
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 248...
Valid 041044Z - 041145Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 248
continues.
SUMMARY...An isolated strong to damaging wind threat continues.
Trends are being monitored, with additional watch issuance
uncertain.
DISCUSSION...A small bowing cluster that earlier produced damage
near Springfield MO along with a measured 61 mph wind gust continues
moving quickly southward around 45-50 kt. Recent Velocity signatures
from KSGF show the potential for 50+ kt wind gusts to persist with
this bow as it moves into northern AR. Although the airmass is
somewhat less unstable downstream of this ongoing activity, it may
still be sufficient to support an isolated strong to damaging wind
risk in the short term. Additional watch issuance into northern AR
is uncertain, but trends are being closely monitored.
