Mesoscale Discussion 0823
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0544 PM CDT Thu Jun 04 2020
Areas affected...Central/Eastern PA
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 250...
Valid 042244Z - 050015Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 250
continues.
SUMMARY...Greatest short-term severe threat appears to be focusing
across central and eastern Pennsylvania. Locally strong winds are
the primary threat.
DISCUSSION...Latest radar data suggests a weak MCV has developed
over Jefferson County PA. This feature is shifting east and may
enhance ongoing scattered convection downstream across central into
eastern PA. Leading edge of this activity has shifted east of the
watch into Berks County and will likely propagate another county or
two before weakening. Air mass over the coastal Middle Atlantic is
considerably less buoyant and visible satellite imagery supports
this with very few boundary-layer cumulus.
