   Mesoscale Discussion 0833
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1050 PM CDT Thu Jun 04 2020

   Areas affected...Southern Minnesota...Northern Iowa...Northwest
   Illinois...Southwest Wisconsin

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

   Valid 050350Z - 050545Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...Isolated strong thunderstorms, with some threat for hail
and wind, will be noted along a corridor from southern MN to
northwestern IL. At this time a watch does not appear warranted.

DISCUSSION...Southern influence of a weak short-wave trough is
expected to aid convection across the upper MS Valley into the early
morning hours. Surface front that is currently draped across
northern IL/IA should advance slowly north tonight as a weak surface
low tracks along the MN/IA border. Scattered elevated convection is
currently noted along the cool side of the boundary, and this should
continue as weak warm advection is expected to persist. Latest radar
data suggests hail is noted with the small bow-type convection over
southwestern MN, while winds have recently gusted to 53kt at DVN. At
this time it does not appear the severe threat will be extensive
enough to warrant a watch; however, will continue to monitor and if
trends change this will be readdressed.
