Mesoscale Discussion 0843
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0118 PM CDT Fri Jun 05 2020
Areas affected...Far East-Central AR...Western TN...Northern MS
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 258...
Valid 051818Z - 051945Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 258
continues.
SUMMARY...Threat for damaging wind gusts and isolated hail continues
across far east-central AR, western TN, and northern MS.
DISCUSSION...Convective line continues to move southeastward through
western TN and adjacent far east-central AR. Current estimates
places the storm motion at 30-35 kt. At this speed, the line should
reach the TN/MS border around 19Z. However, given the storms now
developing ahead of the line, there is some potential for more
discrete forward propagation, which would result in a faster storm
motion. This downstream cellular development is occurring in a very
unstable air mass (i.e. MLCAPE over 3000 J/kg per 18Z mesoanalysis),
which will support robust updrafts. This more cellular development
will promote an increased risk for isolated hail, both within the
cells and as a result of mergers with the convective line. The
threat for damaging wind gusts also continues across the region.
