   Areas affected...Southern ME...NH...Much of MA...Northern
   CT...Northern RI

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 260...

   Valid 061820Z - 061945Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 260
   continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for severe hail and damaging wind gusts will
continue from southern ME through much of southern New England for
   the next few hours.

DISCUSSION...Recent surface analysis places the pre-frontal trough
from far southern ME (near PWM) southwestward into the Hudson
Valley. The cold front lags this boundary by 30-40 miles. Much of
the activity along the pre-frontal trough across southern ME and NH
has dissipated, but new development is beginning along the front
across southern NH. Downstream air mass continues to be modestly
unstable and strongly sheared, suggesting this new development will
continue to pose a risk for severe hail and strong wind gusts.
Visible satellite imagery also appears to depict a east-west outflow
boundary from about 10 miles south of PWM west to 10-15 miles
east-northeast of LCI. This boundary could augment any updrafts that
intersect it while also contributing to some stabilization in its
   wake.

Farther south, storms continue along the pre-frontal trough across
central MA and back into western CT. Lightning has been sporadic
with these storms, suggesting updrafts are struggling to maintain
intensity. This is likely due to the warm temperatures aloft.
However, slightly stronger instability is anticipated downstream
where temperatures are now in the mid to upper 80s, with a few
isolated locations in the 90s. Given these conditions, the threat
for damaging wind gusts and isolated hail will continue.
