NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

   Areas affected...eastern Colorado

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 262...

   Valid 062314Z - 070115Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 262
   continues.

SUMMARY...Storms with a history of damaging winds including
significant severe winds are moving northeast across central/eastern
Colorado. These storms will remain in the watch as they track
northeastward for the next couple of hours.

DISCUSSION...A broken line of storms is moving at 45-55 knots east
of the Front Range stretching from CYS to PUB. These storms have a
history of severe wind including multiple measured gusts exceeding
70 knots. Deep layer flow of 50-60 knots and a dry sub cloud layer
with dewpoint depressions of 50-60 F over the Colorado High Plains
will be conducive for damaging winds gusts reaching the surface.
Marginally severe hail is also possible with these storms. The
storms will continue in the watch with the northern half of the
watch likely being more active for the next couple of hours. The
storms are likely to move out of the watch to the east in the next
couple of hours, but a new watch is currently not anticipated.
Additionally, given the high-based storms and strong winds/low RH at
the surface, wetting rains will be limited, and there is concern for
   lightning ignitions and fire spread.
