   Mesoscale Discussion 0986
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0147 PM CDT Wed Jun 24 2020

   Areas affected...Far Northeast GA...Western/Central SC

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch possible

   Valid 241847Z - 242045Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...40 percent

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm activity is expected to persist for the next
several hours. Isolated damaging wind gusts are possible.

DISCUSSION...Recent surface and remote sensing data reveal a weak
boundary extending from northeast GA east-southeastward through
central SC. Thunderstorms have developed along this boundary over
the past hour or so as the air mass destabilizes amid diurnal
heating. Thus far, updrafts have struggled to maintain any
organization or intensity, with transient multicell structures
dominating. This area is on the southern periphery of the stronger
flow aloft, with mesoanalysis estimating effective bulk shear is
   around 30-35 kt.

Expectation is for these modestly sheared and moderately unstable
conditions to persist for the next several hours. Most storms will
likely continue to struggle with organization and persistence.
However, a few storms may be able to develop stronger, more
organized structures, particularly in the form of bowing line
segments. As such, isolated damaging wind gusts are possible across
   the region this afternoon.
