Mesoscale Discussion 0998
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0213 PM CDT Thu Jun 25 2020
Areas affected...central Florida
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely
Valid 251913Z - 252115Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent
SUMMARY...Storms will be capable of producing isolated downburst
winds across central Florida this afternoon. Severe threat is not
expected to become sufficient for a WW.
DISCUSSION...Thunderstorms are in the process of developing along a
weak east-west oriented boundary across central FL as well as in
association with sea-breeze circulations. Dewpoints in the mid 70s F
and strong diabatic heating have promoted strong instability with
2500-3000 J/kg MLCAPE despite weak to modest mid-level lapse rates.
Vertical wind profiles exhibit weak shear and are supportive of
pulse/multicell storms. Isolated wet downburst will be the primary
severe threat as storms continue developing this afternoon before
weakening during the early evening.
