   Mesoscale Discussion 1071
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1246 PM CDT Wed Jul 01 2020

   Areas affected...Portions of Mid-Atlantic

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

   Valid 011746Z - 011945Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...A few damaging wind gusts and some small hail are possible
this afternoon. The threat is expected to remain isolated and
marginal. No WW expected this afternoon.

DISCUSSION...Cold temperatures aloft and strong surface heating have
helped to initiate storms across the Delmarva vicinity. Enhanced
mid-level flow along the southern fringe of the upper-level low has
lead to around 30 kts of deep-layer shear per KAKQ VAD data.
Isolated damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat with this
activity. Temperatures aloft are cold enough, particularly from the
Delmarva and north, that a few storms may produce small, sub-severe
hail. Farther south, greater storm coverage will occur later in the
afternoon as the surface continues to heat as well as a more robust
sea breeze circulation develops in eastern NC. Activity should
remain isolated and no WW is expected this afternoon.
