Mesoscale Discussion 1125
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0822 PM CDT Mon Jul 06 2020
Areas affected...northeast through east central Nebraska
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 335...
Valid 070122Z - 070215Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 335
continues.
SUMMARY...Greatest severe threat should persist across Boone and
Platte counties in northeast NE through 02Z where the WW has been
extended. Otherwise, most storms have moved out of the original WW,
and another WW is not anticipated.
DISCUSSION...Storms continue developing southward along the outflow
boundary with the strongest storms moving into Boone and Platte
counties. Farther east, storms have weakened along the remaining
portion of the boundary. The 00Z RAOB from OMAHA indicated around
1000 J/kg MLCAPE along with 7 C/km mid-level lapse rates. Storms
will continue developing southward next hour or two and pose a
threat for isolated damaging wind and hail. However, convective
inhibition will increase substantially with onset of nocturnal
cooling, and given lack of a substantial low-level jet, activity
should undergo a further weakening trend prior to 03Z.
