   Mesoscale Discussion 1176
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0343 PM CDT Fri Jul 10 2020

   Areas affected...eastern Montana...western North Dakota...western
   South Dakota...northeastern Wyoming

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 352...

   Valid 102043Z - 102245Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 352
   continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat continues across WW 352.

DISCUSSION...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms have intensified
along western portions of WW 352. Radar/satellite and environmental
indications are that the storms are capable of severe wind gusts and
large hail - potentially significant near right-moving cells in
southeastern MT/northeastern WY. Over time, these storms are
expected to grow upscale while moving eastward/southeastward across
   WW 352.

An additional area of concern exists in portions of northeastern WY
where a cumulus field has emerged. The cumulus field is very near a
dryline and co-located with strong surface convergence. Given the
subtle influence of an upstream mid-level shortwave trough, it is
possible that areas of convection evolve from this cumulus field and
pose a severe risk in areas southwest of the current spatial extent
of WW 352 (Custer, Fall River, and Oglala Lakota counties). If this
threat materializes, spatial extensions of WW 352 will be needed to
   include these areas.
