   Mesoscale Discussion 1292
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0319 PM CDT Mon Jul 20 2020

Areas affected...portions of South Dakota...and adjacent eastern
   Wyoming

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 388...

   Valid 202019Z - 202215Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 388
   continues.

SUMMARY...Local severe risk continues across portions of South
   Dakota and vicinity.

DISCUSSION...Storms have been slower to develop across the WW area
than previously anticipated, with the primary severe risk at the
moment still confined to a small bowing cluster crossing parts of
Potter/Sully/Hughes counties. This cluster will approach the
eastern edge of the current watch in the next hour or so, and may
require local extension of the watch into a couple of additional
counties, as risk for locally damaging winds continues.

Elsewhere, storms are increasing in coverage now from northeast
Wyoming east into the Black Hills, in/near western portions of the
WW, but thus far have remained sub-severe. Risk for marginal hail or
severe-caliber wind gusts could evolve with a stronger storm or two
across this area over the next hour or two.
