   Mesoscale Discussion 1315
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0218 PM CDT Wed Jul 22 2020

Areas affected...portions of northeast VA...MD and DE

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 393...

   Valid 221918Z - 222045Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 393
   continues.

SUMMARY...The damaging wind threat may be increasing across
northeast VA into western MD and areas adjacent to the northern
Chesapeake Bay vicinity. This includes the I-95 corridor from
Washington D.C. to Baltimore within the next 1-2 hours.

DISCUSSION...A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms will
continue to shift eastward over the next 1-2 hours, impacting
portions of the I-95 corridor from Washington D.C. to Baltimore,
eastward across the northern Chesapeake Bay area to DE. Latest radar
velocity data from KLWX has shown instances of strong downbursts.
This cluster of storms will be moving into a strongly unstable
downstream environment characterized by surface dewpoints from 75-78
F and MLCAPE as high as 3000 J/kg. Furthermore, latest mesoanalysis
indicates very steep low level lapse rates around 8 C/km, which will
enhance damaging wind potential over the next couple of hours.
