   Areas affected...Southern New England...Southeast New York...New
   Jersey...Southeast Pennsylvania

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 394...

   Valid 222301Z - 230100Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 394
   continues.

SUMMARY...A wind damage threat will likely continue as a strong to
severe convective line moves eastward to the coast of New Jersey. A
severe threat may also continue across parts of southern New England
and could affect areas to the east of WW 394.

DISCUSSION...The latest mosaic radar imagery shows a convective line
from western New Jersey south-southwestward into the Delaware
Valley. The RAP shows moderate instability ahead of the line to near
the Atlantic coast. This should help maintain a wind damage threat
as the line moves offshore over the next couple of hours. Further to
the north into southern New England, scattered strong to severe
thunderstorms are ongoing. This activity is located on the northern
end of a corridor of moderate instability where MLCAPE is estimated
in the 1000 to 1500 J/kg range. The WSR-88D VWPs at New York City
and Boston show 0-6 km shear approaching 30 kt. Substantial
directional shear is located in the boundary layer with speed shear
mostly in the mid-levels. This should be sufficient for storm
organization and wind damage will be a threat with the stronger
multicells. The severe threat could impact areas in southern New
England just to the east of WW 394. The threat should become more
isolated as it moves eastward into a more stable airmass across
   eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
