   Mesoscale Discussion 1580
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0104 PM CDT Wed Aug 26 2020

   Areas affected...Central/Eastern OH...Northwest WV...Northern WV
   Panhandle

   Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely

   Valid 261804Z - 262000Z

   Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent

SUMMARY...Isolated hail and/or strong wind gusts possible for the
   next hour or two.

DISCUSSION...A cluster of strong multicellular thunderstorms has
recently developed over central OH, in an area of modest moisture
convergence near a remnant frontal boundary and ahead of an outflow
boundary approaching from the north. These storms have developed
along the southern periphery of the strong mid-level flow and over
the eastern periphery of an area of moderate instability. Given its
displacement from both the better vertical shear and stronger
instability, the longevity of these storms is uncertain.
Additionally, the downstream environment is also characterized by
lower temperatures and dewpoints and weaker instability, casting
   further doubt to storm persistence.

Even with these uncertainties, the current storm structures reveal
strong updrafts and enough overlap between instability and vertical
shear exists to support hail and/or damaging wind gusts.
