NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

Areas affected...southeast MN...northern IA and western WI

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 462...

   Valid 281159Z - 281330Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 462
   continues.

SUMMARY...Gusty winds may accompany thunderstorms across the MCD
area this morning, but overall severe potential has diminished.

DISCUSSION...A line of thunderstorms has mostly moved out of WW 462
this morning, and stretches from west-central WI into southeast MN
and far north-central IA. Overall, instability decreases with east
and south extent and substantial boundary layer inhibition is
present. The strongest portion of the line will move across parts of
northern IA over the next couple of hours. A modest southwesterly
low level jet of around 25-30 kt remains over this area. Some gusty
winds are possible with this activity, but overall weak instability
and low level inhibition will limit severe potential. As a result,
WW 462 could be cancelled before the 14z expiration time, and a
   downstream watch is not expected.
