   Mesoscale Discussion 1641
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0939 PM CDT Sat Aug 29 2020

Areas affected...the Texas Panhandle...and southwest Oklahoma into
   northwest Texas

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 473...

   Valid 300239Z - 300445Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 473
   continues.

SUMMARY...A cluster of storms is expected to persist southeastward
toward southwest Oklahoma and northwest Texas, with damaging wind
   gusts possible.

DISCUSSION...A cluster of storms continues to move rapidly east
across the TX Panhandle, where severe gusts and damage were
reported. Sporadic cells with hail threat also have been noted ahead
   of the main outflow boundary.

While low-level winds are northeasterly well ahead of this system,
objective analysis as well as 00Z soundings indicate substantial
MUCAPE remains in place. Given the strength of the outflow, and warm
air mass especially into northwest TX, at least some damaging wind
risk is expected to develop as these storms continue east/southeast
tonight. As such, a watch may be needed.
