   Mesoscale Discussion 1664
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0547 PM CDT Tue Sep 01 2020

   Areas affected...Northwest MS...Western TN

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 481...

   Valid 012247Z - 020015Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 481 continues.

SUMMARY...Locally damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado or two,
remain possible across ww481. New watch may be warranted downstream.

DISCUSSION...Outflow from early-morning convection, that developed
over the southern Plains, has progressed into the lower MS Valley
where it continues to provide the focus for renewed thunderstorm
activity. While convective outflow is generally rushing ahead of the
main line, several pre-squall line supercells are noted from
southeast AR into extreme northwest TN. Latest diagnostic data
suggests an axis of relatively steep low-level lapse rates extend
ahead of the line from northern LA-northwest MS-western TN. This
may continue to prove favorable for updraft intensity as convection
spreads east. If storms maintain their intensity over the next hour
or so a new watch may be warranted immediately downstream from
   northwest MS into western TN.
