Mesoscale Discussion 1666
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0855 PM CDT Tue Sep 01 2020
Areas affected...North Central Texas
Concerning...Severe potential...Watch unlikely
Valid 020155Z - 020330Z
Probability of Watch Issuance...20 percent
SUMMARY...Storms along an east west oriented outflow boundary have
shown occasional rotation. Severe potential remains uncertain.
DISCUSSION...Numerous thunderstorms are ongoing across central Texas
along and south of a remnant outflow boundary. A warm and moist
airmass south of the boundary is supporting MLCAPE of 2000-3000
J/kg. SPC mesoanalysis also shows backed low-level winds are
supporting ESRH of 150-300 m2/s2. A few storms have shown occasional
organized rotation and the environment will likely remain favorable
for low-level mesocyclogenisis this evening. Storms may struggle to
maintain unimpeded inflow as the outflow counties to slowly shift
south. While there remains considerable uncertainty on storm
severity, gusty winds, hail, and a brief tornado will be possible
for the next couple of hours.
