   Areas affected...Central FL Panhandle...Southeast AL...Southwest GA

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 503...

   Valid 290711Z - 290845Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 503 continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for brief tornadoes continues across central FL
Panhandle, southeast AL, and southwest GA. Greatest near-term threat
exists over the central FL Panhandle.

DISCUSSION...The center of Hurricane Zeta continues to move quickly
northeastward through central AL. Recent radar imagery shows a pair
of somewhat coherent confluence bands well southeast of the storm
center, moving through the central FL Panhandle and adjacent
portions of southeast AL. Instances of deeper convection have been
noted with these bands over the past hour, but the occurrences have
been sporadic and short lived. The shallow and transient nature of
these updrafts is not conducive for tornadogenesis.

More recent radar imagery has shown a modest strengthening/deepening
trend within the southern portion of the western band (i.e. near
DTS). However, updrafts remain generally weak, leading to short
lifespans amid the strong vertical shear. Even so, wind profiles
will remain favorable for tornadogenesis if updraft maintenance can
be realized, leading to a continued threat for brief tornadoes for
   the next few hours.
