   Mesoscale Discussion 1790
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   1056 AM CST Wed Nov 11 2020

   Areas affected...the southwestern Florida Peninsula

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 507...

   Valid 111656Z - 111900Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 507 continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for a few tornadoes will persist this
afternoon, mainly over the southwestern portion of the Florida
   Peninsula.

DISCUSSION...As of mid day the center of Hurricane Eta was located
over the eastern Gulf of Mexico, or roughly 95 nm southwest of the
Tampa Bay area. The Hurricane is forecast by the National Hurricane
center to continue on a north-northeast track today. As of 1650 UTC
the most prominent rainband extends from near the Tampa area
southward to near Lehigh Acres and is moving northeast. Although a
few weakly rotating cells have been observed, overall tendency has
been for most of the convection within this band to weaken based on
radar and lightning trends. VWP data indicate large hodographs
across southwestern FL with 400-600 m2/s2 0-1 km storm relative
helicity. Visible satellite imagery shows a few cloud breaks
downstream from this convective band, and some re-intensification is
possible as the boundary layer destabilizes. While the marginal
thermodynamic environment will continue to be an overall limiting
factor, some threat for a few tornadoes will persist into the
   afternoon.
