Mesoscale Discussion 1795
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0734 PM CST Sat Nov 14 2020
Areas affected...Missouri...Northern Arkansas
Concerning...Tornado Watch 508...
Valid 150134Z - 150300Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 508 continues.
SUMMARY...Severe threat will spread across the remainder of ww508
over the next several hours.
DISCUSSION...Two primary bands of convection have developed ahead of
a pronounced cold front that currently drapes from east of Kansas
City-southeast KS-northern Oklahoma. Frontal convection has
gradually increased in response to large-scale forcing but this
activity is evolving within a veered low-level flow regime, thus the
storm mode should remain primarily linear as the front surges
southeast. However, ahead of the frontal convection, earlier
activity that initiated near the KS/OK/MO border has spread
northeast and elongated into a zone of scattered supercells and
short line segments. Several stronger circulations have been noted
within this corridor which is advancing steadily east ahead of the
strong short-wave trough. As boundary-layer moisture increases
across the Ozark Plateau, buoyancy should increase such that
near-surface based supercell threat will continue.
