DISCUSSION...Low-level warm-air advection is underway across portions of New England within a broad confluence zone ahead of a 996 mb surface low which continues to gradually deepen across the Great Lakes. Despite the low-level warm-air advection, surface temperatures remain below freezing across several locales, allowing for some ice accumulations to occur (as has been observed over the past few hours from eastern NY to southern NH). Some of the latest guidance trends suggest that temperatures should remain at or below freezing for portions of easter NH, western ME into central MA for at least a few more hours, with additional ice accumulations possible. While heavier rain rates are expected along the Atlantic Coastline (where surface temperatures are above freezing) a very narrow corridor exists where brief periods of .06 inch/3 hour rain rates may overlap a frozen surface. ..Squitieri.. 01/05/2022 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
