   Mesoscale Discussion 0741
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0507 PM CDT Thu May 12 2022

Areas affected...Southern Nebraska and northern Kansas into
   southeast Nebraska

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 206...210...

   Valid 122207Z - 122300Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 206, 210

SUMMARY...Developing line of storms will pose a threat for
widespread damaging winds with gusts above hurricane force (74 mph)

DISCUSSION...A line of storms developed across northern Kansas and
has become more mature as it moved into southern Nebraska.
Widespread 60 to 70 knot winds are being sampled from the KUEX
WSR-88D with localized areas sampling wind gusts over 90 knots at
around 1000 to 1500 feet. This line is expected to continue to
strengthen as it moves into an airmass characterized by MLCAPE of
   2500 J/kg and DCAPE around 1700 M/kg. Shear is only ~30-35 knots,
which could cause the outflow to outrun the convection with time.
Therefore, the best chance for significant wind gusts will likely be
in the next hour, but the wind damage threat will likely continue
beyond this time as a strong cold pool develops.
