   Mesoscale Discussion 0982
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0454 PM CDT Mon May 30 2022

   Areas affected...Upper MS Valley

   Concerning...Tornado Watch 292...293...

   Valid 302154Z - 302330Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 292, 293 continues.

SUMMARY...Severe threat is spreading across central and
   south-central MN.

DISCUSSION...Mid-level speed max is translating across eastern NE
into south-central MN where it should intensify later this evening
to near 100kt. This will encourage a deepening surface low to track
north to near the international border by 06z. Net result will be
for boundary-layer recovery across central MN as surface warm front
advances north. Leading edge of a complex MCS is surging northeast
across southwest into central MN. Several longer-lived supercells
are noted along a corridor, arcing from FFM-AXN-GHW-west of MJQ. Air
mass ahead of this activity remains quite moist and unstable and 20z
sounding from MPX exhibited strong shear with ample buoyancy for
strong tornadoes. Over the last half hour or so new showers are
beginning to develop ahead of the aforementioned line southwest of
LXL. If this activity continues to evolve more discrete supercells
would certainly pose a risk for tornadoes as this convection spreads
   toward the BRD vicinity.
