Mesoscale Discussion 1095
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0526 PM CDT Wed Jun 08 2022
Areas affected...central Ohio into western Pennsylvania
Concerning...Tornado Watch 333...
Valid 082226Z - 090030Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 333 continues.
SUMMARY...A tornado threat persists across the southern half of
Ohio, and may persist into southwest Pennsylvania this evening. A
watch could be needed east of tornado watch 333.
DISCUSSION...A small supercell with tornado is currently near the
TDAY radar, which is near the surface low. Dewpoints have risen to
70 F in this area, which is also south of a warm front. That
boundary extends east from the low into southeast OH. Ample moisture
exists today with GPS PWAT of 1.50-1.75" common.
As the parent shortwave trough continues east, winds off the surface
will increase, which should help push the warm front farther north
across eastern OH and eventually into southwest PA. This will also
enhance low-level shear. The moistening air mass should negate
minimal CIN this evening, and at least an isolated supercell threat
is expected to spread east of the current watch. As such, a new
watch may eventually be needed.
