Day 3 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0135 AM CST Thu Feb 02 2017
Valid 041200Z - 051200Z
...NO THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST...
...SUMMARY...
No appreciable thunder risk is evident at this time across the U.S.
on Saturday.
...Synopsis...
Initially flat/quasi-zonal flow across the U.S. early in the period
will gradually amplify with time, as remnants of a western U.S.
trough shifts across the Plains through the day, and then
into/across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys overnight. Meanwhile,
with eastern Pacific troughing to approach the West Coast late,
ridging between these two troughs will become more pronounced over
the Intermountain region.
Though a weak surface low/frontal system will move across the Plains
and eventually the Mississippi Valley, a dry continental airmass in
place ahead of this system should preclude thunder potential.
Elsewhere, thunderstorms are not expected.
