...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTHEAST
VIRGINIA INTO EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...
...SUMMARY...
Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected this evening from
southeast Virginia to eastern North Carolina.
...VA/NC...
Exit region of 500mb jet is translating across the Middle Atlantic
this evening. This feature appears partly responsible for an
expansive corridor of convection that currently extends across
southeast VA into the Delmarva. This elevated convection is
maintaining a surface boundary that is currently draped from
Norfolk-south of Wakefield-Emporia NC. At 0045z, a severe
thunderstorm was located over Greensville County and this storm
should track along/south of the aforementioned boundary toward
Norfolk later this evening. Farther south across eastern NC, more
isolated activity extends south of RAH into extreme northeast SC.
This activity should remain isolated as it spreads across eastern NC
this evening. The primary area of concern for the next few hours
will be with convection along/south of the surface front over VA.
