...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF
NORTHWEST INTO CENTRAL TEXAS...
...SUMMARY...
Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to grow into a line of
storms as they track southeast from northwest into central Texas
this evening into tonight. A few intense storms are possible the
next few hours. These storms will be capable of producing very large
hail to around baseball size in the short term, before transitioning
toward swaths of damaging/severe wind gusts to around 80 mph through
late tonight.
...01z Update...
The Marginal risk (level 1 of 5) has been removed from Florida and
across the Great Basin vicinity. A few strong gusts will be possible
in the short term, but the overnight severe threat will continue to
diminish this evening as loss of daytime heating stabilizes the
boundary-layer.
The Slight risk (level 2 of 5) and surrounding Marginal risk has
been trimmed across parts of eastern NM into the TX Panhandle behind
ongoing convection. Current severe storms over the TX South Plains
vicinity into western North Texas are expected to develop into a
southeastward-propagating line of storms into tonight. Large hail to
2 inches diameter will continue to be possible in the short term,
with a transition toward more of a severe/damaging wind risk through
late tonight.
