   TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 152
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   810 PM CDT TUE MAY 11 2010
   
   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
   TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
          LARGE PART OF CENTRAL KANSAS
          PARTS OF NORTHERN OKLAHOMA
   
   EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM 810 PM
   UNTIL 400 AM CDT.
   
   TORNADOES...HAIL TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
   GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
   AREAS.
   
   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 85 STATUTE
   MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF
   ENID OKLAHOMA TO 5 MILES NORTHEAST OF SALINA KANSAS.  FOR A

   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

   DISCUSSION...THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN NUMBER AND
   INTENSITY AS THE VERY UNSTABLE AIR MASS CONTINUES MOVING NWD THRU OK
   INTO SRN KS. WITH MLCAPES AOA 3000 J/KG AND STRONG VEERING SHEAR
   PROFILES...SUPERCELLS SHOULD BE DOMINANT STORM MODE.  IN ADDITION TO
   VERY LARGE HAIL...TORNADO'S WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY SUPERCELL AS
   THEY DEVELOP/MOVE NEWD THRU THE WATCH THIS EVENING.
   
   AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
   SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 3 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
   WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
   500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 24025.
