   TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 293
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   545 PM CDT THU JUN 10 2010
   
   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
   TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
   
          MUCH OF NORTHEAST COLORADO
          LARGE PART OF NORTHWEST KANSAS
          SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA
   
   EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON FROM 545 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT.
   
   TORNADOES...HAIL TO 3.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
   GUSTS TO 80 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
   AREAS.
   
   THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
   MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES NORTH OF DENVER
   COLORADO TO 50 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF RUSSELL KANSAS.  FOR A

   REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
   TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

   THRU CENTRAL KS INTO SWRN NEB.  WITH MLCAPE AOA 4000 J/KG AND
   EXPECTED INCREASE IN THE LOW LEVEL JET BY THIS EVENING TO
   40KT...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD RAPIDLY DEVELOP N AND E ACROSS
   THE WATCH AREA. PRIMARY THREAT INITIALLY WILL BE VERY LARGE HAIL AND
   DAMAGING DOWNBURST WINDS...WITH INCREASING TORNADO THREAT BY AND
   AFTER 00Z AS VEERING SHEAR PROFILES INCREASE IN CONCERT WITH THE LOW
   LEVEL JET.
   
   AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
   SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 3.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
   WIND GUSTS TO 70 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
   600. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 22025.
