   SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 264
   NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
   720 PM EDT FRI MAY 31 2013

   THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

   * SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 
     NORTHERN INDIANA

   * EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT FROM 720 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT.

   * PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
     SEVERAL DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
     A FEW LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

   THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 50
   STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES SOUTH OF
   VALPARAISO INDIANA TO 25 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF FORT WAYNE
   INDIANA.  FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
   FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
   AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
   THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
   AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
   DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

   DISCUSSION...A SMALL STORM CLUSTER NOW EXHIBITING A BOW ECHO
   STRUCTURE IN RADAR REFLECTIVITIES APPEARS TO BE ON THE LEADING EDGE
   OF A BELT OF 30-40+ KT DEEP LAYER MEAN FLOW...AND MAY MAINTAIN
   INTENSITY AT LEAST ANOTHER FEW HOURS AS IT PROGRESSES ACROSS THE
   REMAINDER OF NORTHERN INDIANA.  A FEW POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND
   GUSTS PROBABLY WILL ACCOMPANY THIS ACTIVITY...ALONG WITH PERHAPS
   SOME HAIL...BEFORE IT WEAKENS LATER THIS EVENING.

   AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
   TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
   KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450. MEAN STORM
   MOTION VECTOR 25035.
