   Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 86
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   215 AM EDT Wed Apr 8 2020

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Western Maryland
     A small part of south central Pennsylvania
     Extreme northern Virginia
     The eastern West Virginia Panhandle

   * Effective this Wednesday morning from 215 AM until 600 AM EDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
     Scattered large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

   SUMMARY...Well-developed squall line in southwestern Pennsylvania
   will continue to surge quickly southeastward through the early
   morning hours with an attendant threat for damaging gusts.  After
   crossing the Appalachians, the storms are expected to weaken later
   this morning, with a diminishing severe weather threat.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 35
   statute miles north and south of a line from 20 miles north of
   Martinsburg WV to 85 miles west of Martinsburg WV. For a complete

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
   favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
   Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
   weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
   warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
   tornadoes.

   AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
   1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A few
   cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 450. Mean storm motion vector
   32040.
