The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Western Kansas
Oklahoma Panhandle
* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 315 PM until
1000 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
to 2.5 inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...Scattered intense thunderstorms are expected to develop
this afternoon across western Kansas, and possibly build southward
into the Oklahoma Panhandle. Very large hail is the main threat,
with an increasing risk of damaging wind gusts this evening.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles east northeast
of Goodland KS to 25 miles south of Liberal KS. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
