   URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
   Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 234
   NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   730 PM CDT Tue May 23 2023

   The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

   * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of 
     Northwest, west-central and central Texas

   * Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 730 PM
     until 200 AM CDT.

   * Primary threats include...
     Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
       mph possible
     Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3
       inches in diameter possible

   SUMMARY...An increasingly organized complex of thunderstorms is
   expected to move southeastward out of watch 233, off the Caprock,
   and across parts of northwest Texas and the Low Rolling Plains and
   perhaps Concho Valley this evening, offering severe gusts and large
   to locally significant (2+ inch) hail.  This activity may reach the
   northern Hill Country tonight before weakening.  Additional,
   isolated severe thunderstorms also may develop ahead of the main
   complex.

   The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 115
   statute miles north and south of a line from 70 miles west northwest
   of Abilene TX to 20 miles north northeast of Stephenville TX. For a

   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

   REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
   favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
   Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
   weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
   warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
   tornadoes.

   AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
   3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 65 knots. A
   few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm motion vector
   31035.
