The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
The central and southern parts of the Front Range and southeastern
Extreme northeastern New Mexico
* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 100 PM until
900 PM MDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible
SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are forming over the Front Range/foothills
from south of Denver to the Raton Mesa. Storm coverage/intensity
will likely increase through the afternoon as storms begin to move
southeast off the higher terrain, and the storm environment will
favor supercells capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.
An isolated brief/weak tornado cannot be ruled out this
afternoon/evening across southeastern Colorado.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60
statute miles east and west of a line from 45 miles west northwest
of Limon CO to 45 miles southeast of Trinidad CO. For a complete
