   Areas affected...Eastern Missouri...Illinois

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 232...

   Valid 282034Z - 282230Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 232
   continues.

SUMMARY...A wind damage threat may continue for a few more hours
across eastern Missouri into western and central Illinois. A new
weather watch or a local extension will be possible later this
   afternoon.

DISCUSSION...The latest radar imagery shows a linear MCS across far
western Illinois extending southwestward into northeast Missouri.
The line of storms is located along a gradient of moderate
instability where MLCAPE values are estimated in the 2000 to 4000
J/kg range by the RAP. The line of storms appears to be associated
with a minor perturbation moving southeastward across the mid
Mississippi Valley evident on water vapor imagery. Although the
linear MCS does not look as organized over the last hour, a threat
for isolated wind damage and hail will continue due to the favorable
thermodynamic environment. If the linear MCS can hold together
across central and southern Illinois, then a new weather watch can
not be ruled out later this afternoon.
