NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

   Areas affected...Northern AL...Northeast MS...Northwest GA

   Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 617...

   Valid 092335Z - 100130Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 617
   continues.

SUMMARY...Wind/hail threat continues with convection across
northeast MS, northern AL, and northwest GA. Some consideration for
a new WW into northwest GA is warranted.

DISCUSSION...Scattered supercells continue across the northern Gulf
States from northeast MS into northern AL along the southern fringe
of seasonally strong mid-level flow. Early-day MCS that developed
over southeast MO/northeast AR has propagated downstream into
northwest GA/southeast TN which is reinforcing the baroclinic zone
currently established across northern AL. Most unstable air mass
extends into this zone with modest buoyancy as far northeast as
northwest GA. Given the strong westerly flow at mid levels it
appears this activity should continue for some time, likely
propagating into northwest GA over the next few hours. Large hail
and wind remain possible with these storms.
